Trillium 2020 Winter Go-Karting Series - Postponed
As of March 21, 2020 the Trillium Go-Karting series is postponed. Check back in June for announcements on rescheduling. All dates mentioned below are invalid.
Back by popular demand is the annual Trillium Winter Go-Kart Series! There are several important changes for the 2020 karting season, so please read this entire email if you’re interested in attending.
• K1-Speed is forcing us to sign a contract this year
• We need to pre-pay K1 to reserve a race date
• They need pre-payment 1 week prior to each event
• We need minimum 10 racers to make each event happen
We are (once again) holding the event at Downsview Park’s electric K1-Speed Canada (formerly GP Kartways). Read more about K1-Speed’s location and premium electric karts. See https://www.k1speed.ca/toronto-location.html
Dates and Times
Each of the 3 events take place at 6:30pm Sunday evenings (arrive by 6.00 PM latest), bi-weekly on the following dates.
• Sunday February 23rd
• Sunday March 8th
• Sunday March 22nd
Cost and Registration
Cost is $70.00+ HST per event and you do not need to be a Trillium member to race. Please feel free to invite friends & family to make this event more competitive. K1-Speed has implemented some changes over last year and in order for us to secure the venue for each race, we require full deposit payment from a minimum of 10 racers prior to the first event.
Please sign up through the following MotorsportReg (MSR) event link (or QR-code) by Sunday Feb. 23rd: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/trillium-bmwcca-winter-go-kart-series-k1-speed-toronto-bmw-cca-510866
We require a minimum of 10 pre-registered racers per event to make this series work. Registering for the series through MSR allows us to secure the venue and saves you a $3.00 payment processing fee for each event! All drop-in racers that show up on the day of the event can pay K1-Speed directly, but will be charged an additional $3.00 by K1-Speed.
Race Format and Point Structure
The format of each event includes a 14-lap qualifying session followed by two 16 lap races (total of 46 laps). The 2nd race will have the racers start in reverse-grid order from the 1st race & qualifying results (to make things interesting).
The following point structure will be awarded as such:
2020 POINT STRUCTURE
1st place – 10 points
2nd place – 8 points
3rd place – 6 points
4th place – 5 points
5th place – 4 points
6th place – 3 points

Minimum age for this series is 14yrs and height requirement is 58 inches (147.3 cm). Maximum weight restriction is 300 lbs and height is 6’7”. Track rules will be explained on the day of the race, during the qualifying briefing. Helmets are required and loaners are available at K1 Speed for free. K1 Speed has the ability to run 10 karts on the track at once/per session. If our group is larger than 10 competitors, we will run multiple heats. Each racer that qualifies to race in the ‘fastest’ heat is awarded a 5 point bonus. The overall results of this series will count towards points for the 2020 Competition Trophy presented at the AGM meeting held annually preceding the Christmas Dinner.
