Intro - Trillium Sim Racing League 2021

Your BMW CCA Trillium Chapter is launching a Sim Racing League and we need your input! The League will provide fun and friendly competition that will help you get through the long, cold winter.  We welcome all Trillium Members, regardless of their sim racing experience.  To get things started, gauge interest and help newbies get comfortable, we’ll start with some practice sessions and casual races on the popular iRacing platform.

What You Need To Become a Trillium Chapter Sim Racer

1 – Sim Racing equipment.  You will require a computer (PC) that can support sim racing, along with a steering wheel and pedals (gaming controllers can be used, but we do not recommend this).  Voice communication with all drivers is necessary, so you must have a built-in or plugged-in microphone set up on your computer.  A headset with an integrated microphone is the most effective setup.  Just like with real-life motorsports, your equipment costs can vary widely depending on what you want/need and there are many options.  If you aren’t sure if you have what’s needed, please visit the iRacing System Requirements page at

Don’t have any Sim Racing stuff?

If you would like to join the fun, but aren’t prepared to purchase a computer and sim racing equipment right now, our newest Trillium Chapter sponsor, HIP Motorsports, operates awesome sim racing studios where you can rent a full-motion race simulator and even get sim training to get you started.  HIP Motorsports is opening in mid-December and is located in Ajax, Ontario, right at Westney Road and the 401, next to the Ajax GO station.  Trillium Members will receive an attractive discount at HIP.

2 – An iRacing account.  If you don’t already have an iRacing account, please go to and register.  New Members can currently enjoy 50% off the full cost.  You can go month-to-month or sign up for a longer period to enjoy a lower monthly cost.  Please note that there are additional charges for certain cars and tracks, but those are a one-time cost.

3 – Some practice time.  = )
